This Week’s Bake: The Yule Log Cake Challenge 🎄

If you’ve ever attempted to tackle a Yule log cake, you know it’s a rollercoaster. I had my fair share of cracked sponge rolls and too-thin frosting layers this week! But after some trial and error (and an insane amount of chocolate ganache), I finally created a Yule log that looks as festive as it tastes.

What Inspired This Week’s Recipe You Ask?

Well, the Yule log cake is all about tradition, family, and celebration, which felt perfect as we head into the colder months of winter in Minnesota m. With my brother coming home from college and the holiday season fast approaching, I wanted to bake something that invites warmth and joy—and that also aligns with my mission of giving back to those who could use a little holiday cheer.

Why I Bake for The Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery

Every cookie, cake, and brownie I sell helps support their mission of ending child abuse and creating strong, healthy families. These donations have:

• Provided nourishing formula for infants

• Supplied diapers for children in need

• Safely transported families in need to the nursery

• Helped provide a 3 day stay for a child who’s family is experiencing a crisis

Last week, I got the incredible opportunity to volunteer and serve breakfast at the Crisis Nursery! It was so rewarding to see how your support makes a difference.

Behind the Apron: My Story

I started baking in my grandmothers kitchen because I loved making people smile with sweet treats. But as I grew older, I realized that those blueberry pies and brownies a la mode could do more than just spread joy—they could make a real impact. That’s when I decided to turn my hobby into a way to support causes I care about.

My goal is simple: to whip up delicious desserts while helping those in need. Whether it’s funding local food banks or supporting education programs, every sugary, buttery bite gets us one step closer to building a stronger community.
